If you were at the Grand Prix weekend in Montreal, you probably saw Girls of Glam giving out samples of Bailey's, Jose
Cuervo, and Johnny Walker! We had so much fun being able to represent these great liquor brands to so many people, and our girls looked great in their racing attire!
Girls of Glam often get the opportunity to sample for many liquor brands. And since this was such a big event, we wanted to share this experience with you, and show you want it's like!
I spoke with one of our Girls Vivian G. about her experience. Her initial role was to introduce a simple Bailey's recipe to everyone, and she explained what her experience with this role was like:
"The first and most important role/job I had was to offer the summer
drink of Bailey's to the public. It was a large event and the most
effective way to reach more people meant handing out one sample only
to each person. Our second role/job was to communicate that Baileys
original is Delicious, to remind the attendees that Baileys is a great
summer drink, that it can be blended with ice to share with friends,
to let attendees know all the great flavours: Original, Caramel,
Hazelnut and the upcoming Biscotti. My job was also to point out the
QR code that could be scanned for more recipes. I also referred the
attendees sampling to the Baileys Facebook page. Aside from
communicating these elements, the consistency had to be checked. My
job meant to do all of these things and answer any questions about the
ingredients, the history of the product if need be and to refer the
people to ID person and stamper."
Andrea C. who also worked at the event as a rep for Bailey's, Johnny Walker, and Jose Cuervo said she loved the experience and the people she interacted with:
"I think everyday was awsome, the crowd was full of energy every time I worked with during each event was fun and dynamic. I most say that working for Johnny Walker at the press release was really interesting, total different consumers and seeing an actual racer was fun!"
With all the hard work our Girls do at these events, you're probably wondering how they make it through the day! Aside from the fact that they're roles are super fun, it can be exhausting. And luckily, these Girls have specific tactics to ensure they keep professorial, and continue to represent the brand:
"My attitude was friendly, and open. It was appealing to the
public to see a real face smiling, ready to answer any questions about
the Brand. The attendees liked being served with a smile. Secondly, my
team members and I worked well together and it was felt by the
attendees. We had fun and so did the people we talked to. Thirdly,
being Colombian Canadian is a good representation of a modern
multicultural image. Attendees got to see how Bailey's is a
multicultural company giving even opportunity to all kinds of Canadian
residents. Finally, my appearance was good. My appearance always
professional worked well with my stylish glasses to make for a good
image for Bailey's." - Vivian
"Always keeping a smile and good energy, and respond to every question the clients and consumer had." - Andrea
"I kept a positive attitude. Even at the busy points I tried to work as much as possible to avoid customer disappointment." Tea MM.
Our Girls did a great job at the event, and we are so happy they had so much fun, and took extra pride in representing these brands. Liquor sampling is a strong part of Girls of Glam, and we love that our Girls enjoy participating in these events and being strong brand ambassadors:
"I definitely enjoyed working at this event. It was a high paced
environment that was handled well by all involved. We managed to get
the information out there about the new flavours which everyone seemed
to enjoy. It was an amazing experience which I will remember always." Vivian
"Working Grand Prix was definitely engaging and exciting." - Tea MM.

Girls of Glam at the 2012 Stylus Awards
The Stylus Awards are an opportunity to honor Canadian club
culture, and also up and coming DJ’s and artists. Since Girls of Glam play a
strong presence in the Canadian music and nightclub industry, we were thrilled
to have the privilege of working at the show on May 28th at the
Danforth Music Hall in Toronto.
Some of our girls played a huge role in the show by having
the opportunity to escort the award winners onto the stage to receive their
awards.
Clara R. was
particularly excited about this opportunity:
“Working at the 2012
Stylus Awards was so exciting! We had the roles of the "Vanna Whites"
for the award show, bringing each winner the award on stage. Being backstage
was an amazing experience especially when rubbing elbows with many Canadian music
stars. We were able to see all the performances from the stage-wings which was
really cool! Everyone we met on and off stage was so nice and just as excited
to be a part of the event. At first it was a bit nerve-racking to think we
would have to be up on stage for most of the show, but once we walked up there
a few times it was super fun and truly a memorable experience.”
Girls of Glam model, Katherine L. was also able to be a part of the show:
“It was an amazing experience and definitely
something completely new. Being up there gave you a rush if excitement.”
Girls of Glam is
always proud to support Canadian artists, which is why we were so enthralled to
be able to participate in the show. Our girls looked amazing and so
professional on stage.
Katherine and Clara were so honored to
be a part of this opportunity:
“I'm so glad & thankful that Girls of
Glam was part of it and so thankful as well for working with a company that can
present opportunities like this to me.” - Katherine
“I think it is really great that Girls of
Glam was a part of the Stylus Awards because Canadian music is such a vital
part in our culture and to be at an event that recognizes and supports Canadian
music talent is truly amazing. I love being part of a company that is [involved]
of such a variety of events. This was a very unique experience and I am so
honored that I got to be a part of an award show that is plays such a huge role
in Canadian music. This event was really awesome and I am happy to say neither
of us tripped on stage!” - Clara

Male Models: Don't Let Girls of Glam Fool You
The great thing about Girls of Glam is our diverse roster of
models, which also includes male models. This is something that sets us apart
from other promotion agencies. Rather than looking for males to fill a client’s
job with a request for male models at the last minute, Girls of Glam has a full
roster of experienced male models ready for work!
The most deceiving part is our branding – Girls of Glam does
not particularly appeal to our male roster. However, we are excited that we are
able to offer clients our roster of males. Male models are great for many
events – including brand ambassadors, bartending and serving, modeling, and
many others. Males are becoming increasingly popular for promotional events
because they offer a new flavour to the scene, and also more diversity.
Girls of Glam have been receiving more requests for male
models and this is something that is really exciting for us as an agency. Our
roster is stacked with males who have experience, and it’s only getting
stronger. As Girls of Glam continues to grow rapidly, we will be adding more
male models to our roster and start to actually push them out to clients more.
This means more for our clients to choose from and also more bookings for
males. The industry is getting more competitive, and Girls of Glam are happy
that we are leading as an example for other agencies.
If you are interested in booking male models for an event,
please email us at glam.promotion@gmail.com
If you or someone your know would like to be a part of the
Girls of Glam team – MALE or female, email us for more information glam.promotion@gmail.com

Paid-To-Party Events: Clearing up the Misconception
Girls of Glam have a strong presence in the club scene, mainly
because nightclubs trust our brand and have been pleased with our models in the
past, so we continue to maintain our relationships with them. Not to mention, we love hosting Paid-To-Party events. The one thing we want to clear up however,
is the paid-to-party misconception. The idea that drunk models are going to be
partying with guests in the club all night, and drinking vodka straight from
the bottle. Wrong.
Girls of Glam enjoy doing paid-to-party events because it
gives guests at the club a new social experience. Models get ‘paid-to-party’ so
they can socialize with guests, and make them feel welcome and comfortable.
When we are hired to host a nightclub event it is Girls of Glam’s duty to
ensure everyone around us is happy, and enjoying their experience at the club.
Whether we are greeting guests, serving them samples, or encouraging people to
come dance on the dance floor – we ensure it is not our duty to get drunk and
party hard, but rather to make sure everyone else is having a good time with
us.
Every model must meet the requirements of a paid-to-party
event which ensures absolute professionalism, while still being able to enjoy
working at the club. The job is titled paid-to-party, but we are still able to
maintain our professionalism, and make sure the client gets exactly what they
are looking for.
What Do You Get When You Hire Paid-To-Party Models from
Girls of Glam
- Girls who have no problem socializing with others
- Friendly, respectful, and outgoing
- All girls must arrive looking polished with full make-up
- Prepared with acquired attire, or ready to wear provided uniform
- If they are offering samples, they will be briefed on the brand
- If they are required to gather a guest list, they will prep the list a week in advanced unless booking is short notice.
- They will maintain professionalism, and will not become intoxicated while working
- If you have invited Girls of Glam to host an event, it’s a great way to spread word of mouth, and also to make the event that much more enjoyable.
Having models at the club is a great wait to get people to socialize, and it also gives the club a more welcoming atmosphere. Guests will
have an opportunity to socialize with girls who are representing the club. If
you would like to have Girls of Glam host an event at your club, contact us at

Scams in Modelling: How to Protect Yourself Against Modelling Fraud
Making it in the world of modelling is always tough –
especially on your own. As a representative of many talented females and males,
Girls of Glam always wants to ensure the safety of their models, and also those
who are not part of our team.
We have seen many cases of fraud on websites such as ModelMayhem, and other model / photographer sources. No model ever wants to be misled,
or caught up in a scam that could end in a very dangerous situation. Some of these model / photographer sources are great for networking and getting work, but you always have to ensure your safety.
Our blog this week was inspired by an event where someone
under the name Bryan Jacobs stated he was representing Girls of Glam and
offered a model a job. Of course this was a scam, but convincing a model that
she was being scammed was difficult – and under no circumstances do we want any
model to be misled into fraud - whether they are pretending to represent us or any other agency.
Here are some tips on how to do a background check on a
photographer:
- · Google the name. Do they have a website? Do they have a portfolio? Are they represented well online? Do they have a physical location? Check these items to show the person offering you the gig has some authority built behind them.
- · If they don’t have some or any of these, ask if you can bring an escort – a friend, a make-up artist, a stylist – someone who can be there with you. If they say no, don’t go. No photo is worth your safety.
- · Ask around. Ask other models on Model Mayhem or other sources where you can contact others who have worked with this person. Find out what they were like to work with, if they made you feel comfortable, if they were forceful or not. These will help you decide whether you should work with them or not.
- · If you are ever unsure or uneasy about working with a photographer, or someone who has tipped you off to an agency – always trust your gut.
In this business, you can never take any chances. Starting out can be tough, but by working with Girls of Glam you can eliminate some of the stress of finding work because we find the jobs for you. But for the girls who are out there on there own, use these tips to make sure you are safe. When an agency contacts you for work - email them at their general email address to confirm your booking. If you hear nothing, call them. Then you know for sure.
Stay safe!
