British Columbia, Alberta, and Sakatchewan Jobs | How to Get a Job with Girls of Glam

As the school year wraps up, students scramble to find those summer jobs that will give them some income, and experience. With the amount of students looking for part-time jobs for the summer the competition can get really rough. Girls of Glam is a great option to look to when searching for extra money on the side AND new experience.

Right now we have a big demand for jobs coming up this summer. Especially in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. If you are a student, or someone looking for part-time jobs, GOG can cater to you!

We offer many types of positions from liqour sampling, corporate brand ambassadors, and trade show events. All the jobs we hire for are social, fun, and professional which means you gain work experience while networking!

Here are some tips for getting hired with GOG, and ways you get your name at the top of the list when requesting one of our job opportunities

1. Your resume needs to stand out. We hire for so many different jobs that it's important to list all of your professional AND special skills. Are you a gymnast? Have you done acting classes? Have you served or bartended before? The little qualities for other jobs or big qualities for us. So make sure you tailor your resume for us!

2. We need 3 photos. Some jobs require professional pictures, but some don't. You don't have to go out and hire a professional photographer and do a full on glamour shoot. But whatever photos you do submit, please make sure they are work appropriate. Remember you are applying for a position with us. Check out our Facebook page and see some of the professional photos we have posted. Those are appropriate. If you don't have professional photos, use your top 3 profile pictures, and ensure at least one includes a full body shot.

3. Get certified for serving alcohol. Not having your certification doesn't mean you won't get hired, but it will limit the job opportunities you can request to work at. Remember that. We get a lot of partnerships within the liquor industry so it's a really important certification to have.

4. Prove to us that you can be polished, social, and professional when on the job. A lot of times girls apply with us and don't take the hiring process seriously. You need to remember that we are hiring you to represent another brand but also the GOG brand...at the same time. We have to be able to trust that you can represent both sides professionally.

We are looking forward to a great summer stacked with lots of job opportunities to offer! Now is the time to put in YOUR resume and get some amazing experience to add to you professional resume!

Getting Certified for Serving Alcohol More Jobs

Girls of Glam are extremely active in the alcohol / sampling industry. It is probably where we are most heavily relied upon. We encourage GOG staff to be certified for serving alcohol in all areas of Canada so they can have the opportunity to apply for more jobs.

What are the benefits of getting certified

  • More jobs. Plain and simple. As stated above we get a lot of jobs that involve alcohol, and clients need our staff to be properly educated and certified. Without it, you won't get chosen for the job
  • By getting certified you also get educated on serving alochol. You will learn how much to serve, and when to stop. When you serve alcohol you are a liability and it's important to protect yourself.
  • We want the Girls of Glam brand represented well - and the more staff we have certified the more reputable we are as a brand which means we can get more jobs for our staff.
  • More staff to choose from. Our mantra is that we can vouch for the variety of experiences we have within our roster. The more staff we have that are certified means the client has more to choose from and can narrow down the experiences they need. Having everyone certified means no one misses out on a job opportunity because they don't have the certification.

If you are part of the GOG roster and you are not certified yet - here are a list of places to get your certification in your province:

At Girls of Glam we know that our staff are there to expand their skills and gain experiences. A certification within Girls of Glam does not just stay within our circle but it also allows you to take that experience and certification with you to other opportunities. Girls of Glam is an amazing place to gain experiences and skill sets to help you find your career.

Taking the test is quite simple and takes little time out of your busy and hectic schedule. It's at a low cost which means it is affordable and can even pay its self off in one shift working with GOG!

Who is The CEO of GOG | A Q&A Featured on The Star Business Club

You hear a lot about the fabulous talent that works for us, but you don't hear about the foundation of the agency. Our CEO Jennifer Hing hides humbly behind the staff who make up the face of the agency. With the beautiful girls and handsome men that stack our roster, you probably wonder who started Girls of Glam.

We were very proud to have Jennifer Hing, CEO of Girls of Glam be featured in a Q&A on The Star Business Club with The Honest CEO author Johan Johnannesson. This was a really great opportunity for Girls of Glam to have the chance to showcase how our brand started...and of course put a face to the brand.

The Q&A shows the hard work that was put into the creation of a staffing brand that rapidly grew into one of North America's largest and most successful staffing agencies. A young successful female entrepreneur, Jennifer has created a name for herself in the staffing industry and has set an example for other young female's trying to make their way in the business world.

We are so excited to have a feature on our CEO. Jennifer stands behind a supreme roster of talent - all of which are chosen are screened specifically for a job. As the agency continues to grow, the GOG office team does too. We thought this article was published at a great time for GOG as we become more recognized in the industry. One of our goals is to have the GOG brand recognized more. But we also want people to know about the integrity involved in the creation of the brand, and where it came from.

A huge thank you to the Star Business Club for introducing Jennifer Hing to the community and delivering such an honest and genuine side of our driven CEO.

(excerpt from the aritcle)
Girls of Glam was established by Jennifer Hing in Toronto in January 2009. Within a month, Girls of Glam had a full team of hundred plus promotional models in the Greater Toronto Area, and began to land large contracts with a variety of clients. Now into their fourth year, Girls of Glam is known all over the Toronto, Canada and the USA.

Deterring Team Canada From a Win? | Girls of Glam Support the Curling World Championship

Curling is not a sport that is known to be 'spiced up'. Basketball has dancers, football has cheerleaders, and hockey has an arena full of enthusiastic fans. To make sure that the Ford World Curling  championship had some supporters for Team Canada, we had our girls dress as cheerleaders to support the team and also the Bodog Brand.

(photo from BodDog Brand)

Sadly enough, Team Canada did not win this year at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria B.C.. And the loss didn't help that it was a loss to Japan - a team Canada has never lost to. To smooth things over on that end, a referral was made to our Girls for causing the loss, of course being the centre of attraction. But we're not complaining, that just means we did a great job at gaining support for the team, and getting people excited about curling.

At Girls of Glam, it is our staff's job to be social, and catch the attention of the crowd. Smiles are contageous and our girls have fantastic smiles and social skills. We had a great time supporting our country in the World Curling Championships, and connecting with the crowd. In their branded Bodog cheerleading outfits, they supported Team Canada and had a great time interacting with the crowd. You can't say curling is a dry sport now! Especially when we have gorgeous supporters like the Girls of Glam!

Home Show Staffing: GOG Representing Brands at the 2013 Home Shows

We covered the auto shows…and now we’ve moved on to the home shows! Working trade shows are a really great way to connect with consumers – which means you need to have someone there who can professionally represent your brand. Although we have experience working the autoshows, home shows are a different niche.

We spoke with some of our Girls to see how they represented themselves as an ambassador of the brand they were working for, and what tactics they used to help engage with consumer to exceed the brand’s motive for the show.

What was your role at this home show:

Lilly T. (Ottawa Home and Garden Show): “I represented Re/Mac by singnig people up for their Choose & Win contest."

Leyla: (Toronto Home Show) “My role was the enter and exit iPad activiations for Re/Max and Henry of Pelham.”

Genevieve K. (The National Home Show in Toronto): “ I worked within the RE/MAX VIP booth, greeting guests and encouraging them to enter the Choose & Win Contest”

Michelle M. “I worked at the Hamilton Home show and the National Home Show in Toronto”

What was unique about your role?

Lilly: “I think that being able to talk to such a huge variety of people was the most unique thing about my role. Other booths only spoke to people who showed interest in them but I spoke to everyone.”

Leyla:  “My role was unique because I had the opportunity to greet and have conversation with a diverse population.”

Genevieve:  “Everyone within the VIP booth was relaxed, allowing guests to kick back and relax, sample some wine, enter the contest, and ask any questions they might have about the show or RE/MAX. I think what was great about my role was that I felt it was most important to make guests feel welcome and from this, they wanted to enter the contest. By providing an environment that guests could be themselves (and not be poked or prodded by event staff), they were at ease and could therefore enjoy themselves more”
Michelle: “What was unique about my role at the National Home Show was the special experience that we were able to create for VIP visitors. Having a red carpet, complimentary wine tasting and staff greeting visitors at the entrance and exit of the booth set us apart for other venders at the show and created a unique experience for the visitors at the RE/MAX VIP Lounge. My role was Kiosk staff and entrance and exit staff making sure that visitors where welcomed when entering the booth and helped to create a memorable experience within the booth.”

What Was Your Favorite Part about representing this Brand:

Michelle: “My favorite part about representing this brand was the overall positive responses from visitors entering the booth, VIP visitors were very happy with the brand and the over all experiences within the booth. This was my favorite part to see how happy visitors were with their booth experience”

Genevieve: “Everyone visiting the VIP booth seemed to be a fan of RE/MAX, which in itself makes representing such a brand great. Representing a brand that's already reputable really makes our job that much easier.”

Lilly: “I'm really interested in real estate so while I signed people up for the contest, I discussed topics such as mortgages, downsizing, etc etc. it was really interesting.”

What Did You Do To Make Yourself a Part of This Brand?

Heather C. (Toronto Home Show): “I got myself very familiar with the home show since Remax was a huge sponsor.  For example, if someone did not want to enter the contest I was sure to inform them about the VIP Remax booth.”

Michelle: “To mesh myself with the brand and become part of the brand I research the brand prior to the shift, to help prepared before my shift I made sure I read over my notes and became knowledgeable about the brand and my role and duties before attending the shift.”

Genevieve: “I made sure to follow the lead of the rest of the RE/MAX staff, and was personable, friendly, and approachable to guests. I made sure to make all guests feel welcome.”

At Girls of Glam we always ensure our staff our prepared and knowledgeable about the brand they are representing. It is important to us that when they are representing a brand they become a part of it, so that the consumer would not know they are part of a staffing agency. It is our goal for our staff to understand that they are not only working for Girls of Glam, but they are also working for another brand – and it is imperative that they become part of that community.

Our girls did an outstanding job at the home shows!

Girls of Glam: Mass Hiring

Have been looking for your chance to be a part of the Girls of Glam team? This is it.

We are very excited to announce we are currently conducting a mass hiring for male and females for the following areas: British Columbia, Alberta, Ottawa, and Quebec for trade shows, samplings, and other events!

Girls of Glam offer competitive rates (typically $20/ hr) and amazing opportunities to develop customer service skills and brand ambassador opportunities. You will learn how to connect yourself with a brand and its consumers and learn more about the industry. Girls of Glam looks great on a resume, and provides you with amazing background experience to help you find your career.

If you are interested in being part of a great team, here are some tips from a GOG insider to give you a better chance at getting hired at one of North American's largest staffing agencies.

  • Tailor your resume. Ensure you list as many skills you have as possible. Although we are currently looking for people to hire for a specific trade shows right now, you will also be listed on our roster for other job opportunities that come up in the future. Often times, clients are looking for someone with specific experiences in niche areas.
  • Tell us about yourself and WHY you would be a good fit for our team. What sets you apart from anyone else applying for a job at Girls of Glam
  • Be professional. We are a professional agency looking for professional staff. And while we do have contract for paid to party events and night-club samplings we don't consider "professional partier' as a skill. Use common sense when creating a promotional resume.
  • 3 photos are needed when applying for a position. They are not required to be professional, but we do ask for tasteful, and appropriate photos. Always keep in mind that you are applying for a JOB.
We are really excited to see everyone's applications! We are looking for reps as early as March 21st, so get your applications in ASAP! (Jenn@girlsofglam.com)
