Girls of Glam have worked with a handful of well-known artists for music videos and promotions which has been really great for us as an agency - but also great for the publicity of many of our top promo models who are trying to get their face known in the industry.
Recently we worked with Peter Jackson for a very cool freestyle music video called Crab Cakes. Peter Jackson will be releasing a new freestyle music video each week until the new year - and we were happy to have two of our own featured in the video....cooking up a storm ;)
Here it is:

Jack and Jones Toronto | Girls of Glam show off Their Masculine Side
We have a pretty healthy roster of male staff at Girls of Glam - and you know, maybe we don't give our handsome men enough credit. This week's blog is focusing on three dashing men who worked a very cool promo for the clothing brand Jack and Jones which recently opened a location at the Yorkdale Mall in Toronto!
Three of our male staff were asked to stage themselves at a Cinneplex movie theatre where they handed out free Jack and Jones socks to other curious men who passed by promoting the brand and of course it's new store opening in Toronto (now opened). Like our female models; they had to mingle with the crowds and get people engaged in what they were doing.
Each of our staff were wearing the clothing of a different profile identified by the brand...which we thought was very cool. This meant that different groups of males could identify with the styles our staff were wearing.
Assante loved working this promo because he was passionate about the brand. He spoke to interested consumers as though they were his friend to represent the relaxed and laid back feel of the brand. He also loved how generous the brand was - because they were all able to keep the clothing they wore for the promo!
Ryan C. said the three of them didn't blend in with the crowds - they stood out which was the purpose of this promotion.
We are so happy to be able to share experiences about our male roster and their time spent on promotions! If you are looking to book male staff for your next event contact us:

Girls of Glam Put Their Home-Skills to The Test at Home Depot
Home Depot may not be the most likely place you would find our staff...so you would think.
Girls of Glam took over several Home Depots in Ontario to promote their home installations! That meant our staff had to become knowledgeable about Home Depot, their services, and also become part of the team. When we spoke to the girls about their experiences at this promotion we had such great feedback from each of them, we had to share it with our fans!
Telling customers about home installations and offering swag and really great prizes was the main focus for the GOG staff while they were working as brand ambassadors. However, we learned that they each went beyond what they were asked to do by becoming a member of the team, and really enjoying their time at the store.
Carolyn S. said that she felt like a team member while working there - and that everyone was like a family and very friendly. She took the time to ask customers what kinds of projects they were currently working on what sorts of projects they would like to work on in the future. This was something that really stood out to us because she was connecting with the customer beyond the present.
A lot of the girls also mentioned they were getting a lot of questions about where items were in the store. Although they were not asked to do so, they learned the layout of the store so they could be more helpful, and appear as though they were a member of the staff at that particular location.
When prizes ran out, the staff kept up the excitement of winning something by collecting the remaining swag and creating bundles of prizes they could give away so they had more to offer. It was also important that they knew what they were talking about, because they were getting some really important questions. They each had to attend a training session - however when they were asked a question and were unsure of the answer, they had no problem asking a staff member to help so the customer got exactly what they were looking for.
Carolyn S. had a slight challenge - coffee was being offered to customers in the booth she was presenting at. She had a feeling customers would go straight for the coffee and skip her. Instead she teased customers by saying they had to listen to her talk about what she was doing for a free cup of coffee - and it worked!
This promotion was really great! We had a wonderful group of staff working as BA's for Home Depot - including Evangelica who used to work at Home Depot! They each had impeccable customer service skills and represented Home Depot and Girls of Glam perfectly.

The Project - Guatemala | Supporting One of Our Own
Girls of Glam have a roster full of really great promo models. One of our most active-working promo models, Bethany was chosen to be a special kind of reality show. Unlike Big Brother, The Amazing Race, The Real World, or The Real Housewives of some capitalist city; Bethany was chosen for a less-glamorous reality show. The Project - Guatemala was something Bethany was not aware of. She thought she would be living in higher standards when she signed up for this opportunity...but instead she was mislead into an eye-opening opportunity of a lifetime.
We did a one-on-one with Bethany - a well-known promo model for Girls of Glam in Toronto, Ontario, and asked her about her experience on the show (without giving too much away)
We did a one-on-one with Bethany - a well-known promo model for Girls of Glam in Toronto, Ontario, and asked her about her experience on the show (without giving too much away)
1. What was original concept you were presented with that enticed you to apply for this opportunity?
I was told that we would be travelling around the world going to an exotic luxury location for an experience of a lifetime. Before we left, I went shopping for a whole new wardrobe. Got my hair and nails done and brought all my makeup.
2. How shocked were you when you found out what the show was actually going to be about and what you were going to be doing?
At first I didn’t believe it. I agreed to stay and take part in the project, but I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. When everything you had planned in your mind goes completely the opposite way it’s very shocking.
3. How did you feel about The Project Guatemala once you realized what you were doing? Did you think it would be a good opportunity, or were you nervous?
Honestly, the first 2 weeks were the hardest for me. I was so mad that I put myself in this situation and at times I wanted to just give up and go home. Living and working with the rest of the participants, and learning more about why we were doing what we were doing while we were there is what really motivated me to stay because we were all going through this experience together.
4. How have the experiences on the show changed your perspective on things?
Spending time in Guatemala was a life changing experience. I’m much more aware of what is going on in the world and what poverty really means. I don’t think people really understand it until its staring you right in the face. It was hard to see the orphans and how they live on very little, just enough to survive. Being back at home my interests have changed. I don’t diet anymore; I don’t waste any food at all. I’m much more confident in myself and not afraid to not a have perfect body, or perfect hair. This experience made me grow up,.It was a major culture shock. Here in Canada we are so lucky , we take things for granted - spending too much time focusing and stressing on these things that in retrospect don’t even matter. We should all spend more time appreciating what we have, and most of all each other. Because out there somewhere is a hungry child without a family who would do anything to have what we have.
5. Do you think the show will help others be more appreciative of their lives – or do you think many will see this more as entertainment?
This show is so different from your typical reality show. Things do get intense, which you’ll have to tune in to see..But I do hope it will make people appreciate their lives. It’s the reason the show was made – to make a difference and make people aware that they can make a difference. They actually have created a way for people to donate back to Project Somos, the charity from the show, by donating via text, which I encourage everyone to do. They are an amazing organization. To donate $10 text PROJECT to 45678 and to donate $20 text SOMOS to 45678.
6. What did you love most about participating in The Project Guatemala?
I learned Spanish! And I loved getting to know the Guatemalan people. Even though there was a language barrier, they were sympathetic of our struggles and were welcoming to all of us. It was funny because we are from two different worlds, but we somehow found a way to communicate. They all have a great sense of humour.
7. Do you think you still would have applied for the show if you knew what it was going to be from the beginning?
Before I went to Guatemala I was very self-centred and had never done any volunteer work in my life. Bethany before this trip probably would have said no. But I am so glad I did.
8. Were there any moments on the show where your disappointed in yourself?
[Yes], of course. I was a very different person then. It is a very weird feeling watching yourself on television. I can hardly remember what I ate for breakfast never mind what I said months ago. It’s definitely eye opening seeing how I used to be, but I can’t let it stress me out. It’s a nice reminder of how the experience changed me, and how proud I am of who I am and where I am today.
9. What about moments that made you feel good about yourself; or even proud or brave?
This entire experience made me feel good about myself. There were moments that turned the experience around for me, but viewers will have to tune in to see what happens.
10. What can viewers expect from the show?
There is no other show out there like The Project: Guatemala. Viewers can expect to be amazed, shocked and proud to be Canadian. Expect to laugh, cry and connect with each of us as you watch us go through this life changing experience. And I hope it prompts people to want to make a difference.
Make sure you tune into this show and watch Bethany's transformation! The GOG team will be watching weekly!

Staffing for the 101st Grey Cup
As the title of our blog suggests, we are hiring for one of the biggest events of the year - the Grey Cup! Last year was a big year for us - not only was it the 100th Grey Cup, it was also hosted in the home town of the Girls of Glam headquarters - Toronto, Ontario. However, we are also proud to say we have some amazing staff in Saskatchewan as well who we know will do a great job at taking their turn working this awesome event!
Take this as your 'casting call' to apply for available positions being offered, but also for a chance to get your foot in the door with GOG if you're not already on the roster. Girls of Glam bring in males, females, models, customer service representatives, applicants with specializations and certifications. There is literally a need for everyone on own roster and we place staff in various positions each day. Right now - we want to give YOU the chance to work for a well-known Canadian event - and of course to soak in the excitement of football.
What Can You Expect When You Work This Event:
Take it from some of the staff who worked last year - the energy you will be working with will be incredible. You will be interacting with a very excited crowd - and they want to interact with you! We had a staffer who met a couple who actually met at one of the Grey Cup's 40 years ago! She really loved interacting with people and listening the stories they had about past Grey Cups.
You will be representing one of our established clients as brand ambassadors. Passing out samples and swag, taking pictures and playing games, pumping up the crowds and grabbing their attention. It is the most exciting job you will ever have; you will wonder how you get paid to do it.
Working for Girls of Glam is a great way to get comfortable with yourself - and learn how to network. You will be doing a lot of networking!!
This year the Grey Cup is in Rider Nation in Saskatchewan. We need fun, reliable, and outgoing staff to represent some well-known brands in a professional and fun manner.
If you are interesting in working at the Grey Cup this year, contact us! Send us a resume, and 3 photos (professional is preferred). We look forward to adding you to our roster of some of the top promotional staff in North America!
